Guardian Monitor is a glucose monitoring app for people with diabetes using the Medtronic CareLink system. It displays real-time glucose data, charts, and markers — and keeps you informed with alarms, widgets, and more.

Important: Guardian Monitor is a read-only client. It does not change any settings in the CareLink system.

Getting started

Choose the appropriate CareLink server (US for US accounts, EU for all others) and log in with the same credentials you use for the CareLink partner portal.

Features

Home

Displays your current glucose level with a trend arrow and a 24-hour chart showing glucose readings, insulin doses, meals, and auto-corrections. Tap any marker on the chart for details.

Statistics

Glucose statistics for configurable time periods: today, 3 days, week, 2 weeks, or month. Includes time in range, average glucose, number of readings, boluses, and meals. Range thresholds are taken from your Settings.

Alarms

Configurable glucose alarms with sound, vibration, and snooze:

  • Limits — upper and lower glucose thresholds
  • Prediction — alarm before reaching a limit
  • Missed readings — alarm when data is unavailable

Preferences

  • Profile — account management and patient selection (for multi-patient accounts)
  • Background mode — keeps the app running in the background for continuous data updates and alarms. Uses a quiet standby sound; mute it if you prefer silence
  • Live Activities — shows current glucose on your Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, Apple Watch mirroring, and CarPlay while the app runs in the background
  • Apple Health — synchronizes your glucose, insulin, and carbohydrate data with Apple Health. Data stays on your device
  • Nightscout — uploads glucose readings and treatments to your Nightscout server
  • Configuration — glucose units (mg/dL or mmol/L), app icon badge, and glucose range limits
  • Siri — voice reading of the latest glucose level

Apple Watch

Companion app and complications that show your current glucose level directly on your watch face. Data is delivered from your iPhone or fetched directly via the Internet.

Subscription

Some features require an active subscription: Live Activities (full 8-hour access), alarms, Apple Watch, Nightscout sync, Apple Health sync, and voice reading. A free trial is available.
